Sierra Potvin (She/Her)

Intern, Research

Sierra is pursuing her Master of Science in Planning (M.Sc.Pl.) at the University of Toronto. Her background is in civil engineering, having completed a bachelor’s degree and worked in that field prior to pursuing her master’s. 

 Sierra’s academic interests focus on sustainability and equity in cities. Over the course of her academic career, she has conducted research on pedestrian streets, green gentrification, “demoviction” laws and policies, green alleyways as public spaces, coastal infrastructure, and electric vehicle charging infrastructure. 

At the Canadian Urban Institute, Sierra works as an Intern in the Applied Solutions Lab (Policy & Research), assisting with research on “Missing Middle” housing, mental health and addiction in cities, and community spaces and services.
