Matt Buckman is an experienced city-builder supporting projects in the public, private, and non-profit sectors. Matt is the Senior Director of Programs & Partnerships at the Canadian Urban Institute where he works with cities across Canada to develop strategies on regional investment, housing, and economic development. Previously, Matt served as the Director of Strategic Initiatives to former Mayor John Tory where he led efforts focused on streamlining Toronto’s housing approvals process. Prior to that Matt worked on Infrastructure Ontario’s Transit-Oriented Communities program, and for impact real estate developer TAS.
Matt holds a BA (Hons) From the University of King’s College and an MBA from the Rotman School of Management.”
What is your favourite way to spend a day in the city?
Matt enjoys experiencing the City on foot and is happiest walking his dog Lily and finding expansive green patches to play fetch.
