Zhaoyi Wang is currently a Research Intern at the Canadian Urban Institute, where she supports geospatial and data-driven research initiatives related to urban infrastructure and equitable development.
She recently completed her undergraduate degree in Economics at the University of Toronto, specializing in data analytics. Her academic and professional interests lie at the intersection of spatial economics and industrial organization, with geospatial data as an integral component of her research approach.
She has worked as a research assistant on several projects in the Department of Economics at the University of Toronto, including analyzing geographic mismatches in supply and demand within the steel industry, developing a deep learning model to detect changes in household backyard structures using satellite imagery, and evaluating the labor market impacts of international tariffs.
