Emily Wassmansdorf is a dynamic Communications Manager with over five years of experience driving organizational success through strategic storytelling and integrated marketing initiatives. She is a collaborative project manager who combines a holistic perspective with a data-driven approach to communications.

Emily has worked across non-profits and startups, contributing to high-impact teams focused on placemaking, public policy, media polarization, and more. With a background in geography, political science, and international development, she brings a critical lens to urban issues, exploring the large-scale forces that shape the everyday experiences of Canadians. Her training in User Experience Design further anchors her work in empathy and systems thinking.

At CUI, Emily has contributed to two sold-out national summits, helped exceed communications performance targets year-over-year, and advanced CUI’s position as a trusted source for bold ideas and public dialogue on urban issues.

A proud resident of Kitchener-Waterloo, Emily is a passionate advocate for her mid-sized city and a regular at community-driven activities such as salsa in the square, silent book club, roller disco, and more.

What is your favourite way to spend a day in the city?

First stop iced coffee, then I love browsing independent bookstores and thrift shops, wandering the streets, and ending up in a shady park with a snack.
