Zahireen Tarefdar is based out of both downtown Toronto and the city’s east end in Scarborough. She has applied her skillset in design and storytelling to projects in a range of sectors, from post-secondary education to placemaking.
Zahireen is dedicated to the inclusion of youth in civic life. In her time as a student leader at the University of Toronto, she facilitated youth engagement in local, provincial, federal, and international climate policy spaces. Her research and work on youth participation in climate movements and on digital justice has been overseen by the University of Toronto’s School of the Environment, the Jackman Humanities Institute, and the eQuality project.
Prior to joining CUI, she was a project coordinator in the Office of the President at the Council of Ontario Universities.
