Nowshin Chowdhury

Policy and Research Manager

Nowshin is an award-winning social entrepreneur and activist. While she embarked on her career in the banking industry at HSBC, she decided to follow her passion and moved to the Urban Development Programme at BRAC Bangladesh where she served for over three years.

Prior to joining Canadian Urban Institute, she completed a placement with the IOM – UN Migration at its Geneva, Switzerland headquarters. Nowshin holds a Master’s of Global Affairs degree from Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy- University of Toronto with a specialization in Human Rights and Global Justice.

Nowshin is also acting as a Youth Advisor and Communication Focal at the UN Youth Advisory Panel (UNYAP) under UNICEF Bangladesh, Young Leader at Women Deliver, and Associate Fellow at the Royal Commonwealth Society (RCS). She represents several youth organizations like Action Aid, Activista, Junior Chamber International (JCI), the Royal Commonwealth Society (RCS), etc. A finalist at Queen’s Young Leader, Nowshin is ambitious and passionate about solving the world’s most pressing issues. In the future, she wants to see herself as someone who will bring about a revolutionary change across communities through equality, technology & innovation.
