Current Programming

   

Currently, CUI has active projects in the following countries:

In Cuba, CUI’s program has been assisting the country to model several prototypes of participatory local development, focused on urban watershed management, environmental health, land use planning, public realm improvements, and disaster management.

In Ethiopia, CUI is working with Addis Ababa and Bahir Dar urban regions to implement their Eco-City Programs, which involve local improvement and sustainable livelihood initiatives for poor, priority neighbourhoods.

In Jamaica, CUI is assisting to implement the participatory governance elements of the country’s local government reform program through sustainability planning in the Parish of Manchester.

In the Philippines, CUI’s program is assisting to establish a national enabling environment for sustainable economic growth, advancing local economic development initiatives in four regions (Bohol, Guimaras, Pangasinan and Zamboanga del Norte), and improving bio-regional planning and disaster risk management in the Metro Iloilo region.

In Ukraine, CUI supports improving the country’s policy and programming framework for regional development, and modeling its implementation through regional economic development initiatives in pilot regions.
