Choose CUI for your Secretariat Service Needs
The CUI has extensive experience in supporting and developing programs targeted at municipal decision makers interested in learning more about community redevelopment, energy conservation, and sustainable building practices. The CUI works as secretariat to the Japan Local Government Centre and the Canadian District Energy Association. As the Secretariat, the CUI provides:

- strategic organizational advisory services
- conference production and support services
- website maintenance and updating services
- research and event production

Japan Local Government Centre
Since 1993, the Canadian Urban Institute has enjoyed a strong partnership with the Japan Local Government Office, part of the Council of Local Authorities for International Relations (CLAIR), headquartered in Tokyo. The Council was established in the late 1980s under the authority of Japan’s Ministry of Home Affairs. Its purpose is to increase international awareness between Japan and other nations, including Canada. Canadian District Energy Association
Since 2004, the CUI has been providing secretariat and conference production services to the Canadian District Energy Association (CDEA). The CDEA is an industry association representing member utilities, government agencies, building owners, consulting engineers, suppliers, developers, bankers, and investors who share a common interest in promoting the growth of district energy in Canada. The Association is committed to being the leading voice promoting district energy as the most reliable, environmental and economic solution for Canadian energy consumers and with the help of the CUI, they organize a prominent annual conference on district energy.
